Not Forever

I just had two friends loose cats to the ultimate thief, age. The Squirt’s last sibling died, and a good friend had to put their old girl down as well.

It crushes your heart to lose a cat. Yet I sign up again and again. I cannot live without the furballs, even knowing what the price is going to be. The Squirt is 15, blind in one eye and suffering arthritis, and a hint of kidney disease. Although you don’t like to think about it, baring accident, she is next. She is my wife’s cat. Or it is more my wife is her person.

No it will not be easy.

But we will be at the shelter looking for another furbaby.

Yes, that’s always hard. Especially if there’s a kid involve who grew up with the cat (or dog)!

Sorry for you and your friends loss…

Every time I loose a cat I am devastated. Like you, I always find another. I currently have two amazing sibs who are absolute sweethearts with everyone. And every cat is a unique creature it is a joy to get to know.

It’s a need, like food. We came home last night and the whole of the Stubentigerbund was at the door. It was not even feeding time. It gives the heart a little thrill.

As a Fur baby owner, I deeply sympathize. Got the doggo version of a cat, a Jack Russell Terrier (well technically mom was a JRT and dad was a Schnauzer) who just turned 13 in June of this year (and the average span of each is like 12 - 15 years), and am not looking forward to ‘that day.’ I know I won’t be ready for that day, no matter how much I prep myself. Mine so far is ‘mostly good’ for the most part, about as much as you can expect for a 13 year old 21 pound pupper, the jumps take a little more effort (he can still go from floor to bed top at a standstill for the most part, but does better with a little running start), but sorry for your loss.
